Urania Christy Tarbet PSA, KA

As a young child, Urania was greatly influenced by her famous cousin, Howard Chandler Christy, noted illustrator and portrait artist.   When she began to paint seriously in 1978, she was honored by the mentorship that was forthcoming by two great artists' friends of the time, Renold Brown, Art Director-Fox Studio and Karl Albert, noted California Desert Painter.

"The French Impressionists has had the most influence on my work.  Monet, for his exquisite color sense and Degas for his keen eye for drawing and composition."

Working in pastel constantly gives me the excitement of creating vibrant works of art that glows from within; conversely, when I paint with oil it is always the joy of working with the palette knife to create thick, bold, impasto strokes that grabs and hold the light.  Bright, high key painting are the hallmark of paintings by 'Urania'.

"In this day and age, the world is greatly in need of beautiful paintings to relieve our minds of the daily news and its negative input into our mind and spirits...this is what I hope to present with my work of florals and landscapes...view them, enter them, stay for an extended time, and walk away with peace and joy."
